always skillful and careful designer of reality, we can define Viviani "[...] defamer of Naples, the excessive realism with which the Neapolitans were shown environment [. ..] " (" Il Mattino di Napoli, 1927, article for the premiere of "The Feast of Montevergine).
And in "Fisherman" a sincere realism Vivani develops between songs and sea, the smell of salt air, the networks still wet and a familiar reality, as normal as shocking in its contrast its secrets. Here the director's notes, of Angela Gelardi : " [...] In this theatrical everything expresses the strong and meaningful relationship with this vital element (the sea): the fishermen, the cabin, boats, fishing tools, are symbols of a thousand-year journey from deep roots. " The choice of director
Liborio Preite was thus to contextualize the work in a scene stolen from the sea, resulting in an assemblage of apparently rotted wood from the salt water, networks still too tired to fish, and small shells, clams and pieces of sea that take root on the stasis of a life that is repeated in the same for centuries.
To underline the feelings are important stories to the music of Nino D'Angelo
, arranged by
Sasa 'Piedepalumbo , and the delicate, expressive and often moving choreography by Veronica
Accardo. History The story takes place on an excerpt from the beach, Margellina, a waterfront that in 1924 filled in and was stunned by shipyards, which would acmbiato well as the coastline, even the spirit that had always been impregnated stones and people of Saint Lucia and Margellina.
the edge of the promenade, a small shack and a piece of decaying beach house the screw
Cicciariello (Liborio Preite) and
Catarina (Carmela Esposito), fatherless brothers, whose mother,
'A Sie Cuncetta (Maria Accardo), he married his second wife
Cumpa 'Dummineco (Antonio Salvoni), not exactly a saint.
to keep the delicate balance between stepfather and stepson is not the mother, but his great-grandfather Zi 'Austin, said
Cient'anne (Peppe Crispin), the last link between the before and after, between the peaceful and the tragedy that is already in the air.
"The truth with the ratio 'dirt' that Cumpa 'Dummineco establishes cn stepdaughter Catarina will be apparent only to Cicciariello [...]: the mother of two young men in fact, is the dark, or perhaps just prefer to believe that the Catherine loves her husband as her own daughter. " And the same Catarina live the wire, in un'incomunicabilità dictated by honor and shame, until the facts have reached a consistency to her too heavy to bear in silence.
The rest of the fishermen, their wives, daughters, and the same Cient'anne, assist the unfortunate situations that are created between their master and his stepson, unaware of the drama is behind and that will lead to a tragic end.
"The bond that holds them together, wrapped together the lives of these fishermen [...], is expressed by a distinctive feature of the work a seaman; elmento that dominates the scene, however, essential in its structure, and the bodies of characters: the network. tangled networks, networks swollen with hopes, broken nets, nets full of joy, sadness networks : metaphor intricate lives that intersect, employees between them.
